It will give you an idea just how long you can keep your passion going for a particular pursuit. It is a great place to set up workshops, sell ebooks, or advertise with affiliates that sell products that your readers need or will enjoy.

Many handcrafter’s first stop is Etsy. This market place allows you to put your products in front of buyers at little cost and with quick set_up times. All you really need is a product and a camera. There are many types of craft market places or online “malls”. Check out a few of them and see where your handcrafted products would sell the best. Some of these marketplaces have an over saturation of similar products, so do your homework for the best results.

Online stores

Selling items on ebay, amazon, even facebook is another way to work from home.. Anything can be sold from books to clothes to household goods, both new and used. Many groups are springing up on social media, to help with selling setting up and networking. There are many groups that sell locally so there are no startup costs. This is a great way to sell items to make room for that home office.

Services

Another way to work for yourself is to offer services that others need to make their lives easier. Dog walking, babysitting, housekeeping, house sitting and yard work, are a few traditional services that people start to make extra money. However, think about what you are passionate about and see if there is a way to turn it into a service that others need or would enjoy in their lives. Make sure to check with your local government to obtain any licenses that are required.

There are many ways to start your own business. Your imagination is a great place to start but once you have your plan in hand the hard work begins. When you work for yourself there is not a boss to keep you motivated. In the beginning there are no sick days, vacation days, and not many days off. Once your business is up and running you can think about how you will balance it all. The important thing is to start and see where it takes you.
