Country Music Breakup Songs
What songs do you think of when you think of breakup songs? Perhaps it is because you are sad that you no longer have a relationship with the person or maybe you are glad and have unresolved anger. Either way there are songs out there that can express your feelings. (I am just going with the more current releases, not to say that classic country doesn’t have good songs, but for this discussion I’m sticking with current country.)
The inspiration for this article has been the song “Pray for You” by Jaron and the Long Road to Love. It has to be one of the best breakup song to come along in a very long time, says everything that someone whose heart has been broken wants to say.
For a revenge song, I would probably go with Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood. Who hasn’t wanted to do damage to something that means something to the person who broke their heart? Miranda Lambert has a good one too called Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The younger fans have Taylor Swift who sings Picture to Burn and Should Have Said No. She has admitted that most of the songs she writes come straight out of the pages of her diary, so you have to wonder who did her wrong and were they just plain dumb?
What do you think makes a good breakup song? Should it at least contain something that will let you daydream about doing damage to the other persons property or just to be the one doing the heart breaking? Who sings your favorite breakup song? Is there one that stands the test of time and still holds true today as much as it did the first time you heard it on the radio? Stop by the forum and let us know what you think!
